Achieved Projects

10/2010

HOKISA was established in 2002 and cares for children infected with and/or affected by HIV and AIDS who cannot be looked after by their own parents or family. In an environment as close to a family home as possible, children are cared for full time, with all necessary medication, including ARV treatment.
In August 2010, 4 year old **Anni (with severe malnutrition, TB & HIV positive) was taken into HOKISA`S care.

Christmas meal

She and some friends, like in 2009, financed a big part of the Christmas meal in 2010. She had also made a special appeal to the public for donations. We at uLizo were able to support this project and in this way could help provide more children with a warm Christmas meal.

Winter clothing for children in South Africa

With the help of Miniature Wonderland Hamburg, uLizo provided winter school uniforms in Cape Town and the surrounding area for about 100 children. We especially took into consideration placing the clothing order with a South African Manufacturer, so as to support South Africa's textile and clothing industry.

Container to Gambia

We met Mrs Pantke before uLizo was fully established. She assists underprivileged in Gambia by sending a container with urgently required utensils on an annual basis. We at uLizo, are pleased to announce that by means of your donations, we were able to assist Mrs Pantke in this regard by donating her clothing we collected. The container should reach Gambia in March and Mrs Pantke will be there personally to ensure that the donations are delivered to those intended. We eagerly await for feedback and photos!

Ulizo supports Rainbow of Hope

Rainbow of Hope is a Home for abused children in Cape Town. An acquintance of uLizo travelling to Cape Town was kind enough to take some toys, utensils and toiletries to Rainbow of Hope on behalf of uLizo - we, at uLizo really appreciated these efforts!

Ulizo visits Hokisa and Rainbow of Hope

Whilst on a visit to Cape Town to deliver a big donation of winter clothing to various homes, ulizo also took the time to visit HOKISA and Rainbow of Hope.We were able to personally hand over donations of clothing, shoes and toiletries to these two homes.

An e-mail from HOKISA thanking Ulizo:

Dear Bernie and Micky

I just wanted to say a very big thank you for your visit yesterday. It was great to see both of you again and also to meet your children. It means a lot to us that you have visited and that we have your ongoing support.I was glad too that little Ani* was home and that you could meet her and see how well she is doing.

And then when I went through everything and saw what wonderful quality clothes there are and how each child would be able to get new and great clothes. There are really the most useful things, all in excellent condition, all beautifully washed and folded....
Our HOKISA children are going to be the best dressed kids in SA!!
