Introducing our Team

Bernie (Chairperson)

uLizo gives me the unique opportunity to support those who are less fortunate than myself. My aim is to introduce uLizo locally and internationally, and to tell you about our vision to help disadvantaged people worldwide.

Babalwa (Vice-Chair)

I was born and brought up in a small town of Cala in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Both my Grand-parents were very active in the community. They played a vital role in shaping the person that I am today. Life always motivated me to look for better opportunities. I secured a job as a stewardess at Emirates Airlines and left my beloved country in December 2000 for Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In Dubai, I met my husband Stefan from Germany and I moved to Hamburg in October 2005.

My involvement with charity work is motivated by multiple reasons. From a very young age I was taught to share and to be grateful. One of my mottos in life is: A hand that gives is more blessed than a hand that receives. This is how I was brought up and this is how I raise my children. During my travels in countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Philippines and Kenya, I saw a lot of poverty. My own home, the Eastern Cape Province, is the poorest in South Africa. When Bernie came up with the idea of uLizo, I embraced it as an opportunity to share and to give back to those less fortunate than me.

uLizo,

Sandra (Creative Director)

Uwe (Administrative advisor)

this is what motivates me to help.
